Baby Bilum
Size: Large
Commonly referred to as The Baby Bilum among locals, this style of bilum was traditionally used as a baby carrier and a means of transporting food and firewood. The handle is of varying lengths as this allows the women to hang the bag from trees with a baby inside so they can be rocked to sleep in the wind. We however, do not advise the use of this as a baby carrier.
This style of bilum is still used for the above functions amongst Papua New Guinean women today.
Materials: Wool and acrylic yarn
Note: This item has been uniquely handwoven and is one of a kind.
